Refconsult in collaboration with Lwanga Electrical & Electronic Machines Ltd has developed a 50 watt solar street lighting fixture, a prototype of whose commercial version is expected to be ready by February 2007.

The product is currently under testing and it will be on the market very soon. The solar street light will not only relieve the current energy demand but will enable the city authorities to cut down on energy costs on street lighting
